Too Old for This

I thought choosing the homeschool curriculum for one third grade boy would be a cakewalk since I have nearly two decades of choosing it for three or more grades at a time.

Wrong! Somebody please hand a box of resources that all go with my teaching style and my child's learning style. I'll hand you $200 and we'll call it even.

Deal?

Each year there's probably more and MORE curriculum out there to look through. Just the little bit I've looked through in terms of future use for my boys makes my head spin!

Talk about a maze! Whoa!!! The curriculum maze is real! I'm sorry I can't help you with those resources, but I'll call on
a-MAZE-ing God to help you to finish well since He is an expert with all styles!

YOu can do it!!!!!!!!!

The funny thing is, i stress about it and then never do it the way it's written anyway. I'm sure a veteran like you is the same way. Whatever you pick i'm sure you'll tweak :)

Danielle, you are absolutely right. Too many choices paralyze me, which is why I could never build my own home. Don't give me 320 flooring options, give me 3.

The good thing after 17 years of teaching is that I am perfectly at ease in the knowledge that whatever I choose, God will redeem the misakes. There is no perfect curriculum, and I long ago got the tip, "Don't let the curriculum master you. You master it." Tweaking is what I'm all about, Marie. YOu are right about that.

I love Tapestry of Grace, but it's too heady for this year one kid. If I had older ones, doing it, I'd adapt the Upper Grammar stuff for Joel, but as it is, I want to turn him into a lover of books. Too much too soon could snuff my hopes right out!

Thanks,Laurie, for the prayers. It's crucial. Why don't I always think to pray first???? How long have I been walking with my Abba and still don't ask Him first to give me what I need????
