Fixed

The word "fix" is a peculiar one, isn't it? It has so many different meanings.

1. My dog has been fixed for a while now. (Actually, my husband likes to say, "He was fixed when he was born. Now he's broken.") One day recently my youngest child was having such a great time with our one and only dog, that he asked me, "Mom, Reilly is so cute. What does it take to make puppies?" Oh, my. Why do they always ask you that when you're unprepared? I repeated the question (an old parental stall tactic) and then said, "Well....you need a male and a female--." Then he asked, "and food and water, right?" I said, "Right," and he replied, "That's what I thought." And off he went. Shooey!!! Close call.

2. Today my daughter fixed a green smoothie. She declared it " a fail." She attempted to combine two different good-sounding recipes, and so in went a head of celery, two cups of spinach leaves, some lime juice, an apple, and cilantro. What she wished she'd used was parsley.
Let me tell you, it was very green. And very cilantro-ey. The faces we made trying to get it down should have been on youtube. The video would go viral, just like our guts. I told her it needed something else for sweetness, so she added berries. Do you know what happens when you mix red with green in a blender? I told her not to worry about it; it'd look the same coming out as going down. But I couldn't handle the tanginess, let alone the texture, so we added chunks of banana to our cup and poured smoothie over it. Then I added honey. Lots of honey. I wish I could say it fixed the problem.

3. And speaking of fixing problems, for your viewing pleasure (and ability), I fixed the link to the post called "Jimpressions." Have you ever heard such a funny pastor? I love impressions and I love to hear Shakespeare quoted. Combine the two and you've got some great comedy. Take a look and enjoy your Thursday.

4. What was last thing you "fixed"? A meal, a situation, your hair, a dog? Tell me. I'm fixin' to hear all about it.

Impromptu Piano Duet

I couldn't get the link to work, but copy and paste this URL. This elderly couple walks into a Mayo clinic for a check-up, find a piano, and play a fun, spirited duet. The middle gets pretty funny. The piano is not the only thing they can't keep their hands off!

They've been married 62 years and the man is 90.

Marry a Good Speller: It Just Might Save Your Life

I found this hilarious 911 call posted on my friend Kathy's blog, which she got from Girl Talk.

The post gave me reason to be thankful that I married a good speller. Just in case the day ever comes when I'm seriously attacked by a warthog and am not A-OK, I'm glad my street it as easy to spell as "O-a-k."

The Blood Song

I'd love to have this little girl sing on our worship team. What a cutie with passion to spare!
I've listened to what she says at the end but can't make it out. Can you? Does she say, "Let 'em play?" or what? Anyway, I laughed and wept imagining our Father's heart when we sing for Him, hand motions and all.

New Math

Here is an entertaining look at why I don't teach math.

If Only I Were as Fun as This Art Teacher

I came across this art teacher/musician online. Doesn't it just make you want to take art classes all day long? He makes up songs about art and artists. I've got one of the ditties already in my head . It's called "You Cezanne."

I say, "Ce", you say "zanne"
I say, "Ce," you say "zanne" ...

and then there's the Picasso Polka (featured in this video) which has the word "blue" so many times you'll never forget Picasso's Blue Period. I love the way the kids giggle during the "American Gothic" bit. Maybe I'll have the kids dress in blue (they love casual days), play the blues, and make a Picasso-inspired blue painting. Any suggestions for a blue project?

I'm gonna see what it'd take to book this dude at school. It's probably not in the budget, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pnz9bNGLPK4&feature=related Watch it and tell me if you can spot the math teachers. They can't dance.

The Man Who Cried "Woof"

Admit it, ladies. Every now and then your man deserves the doghouse. Maybe you asked for something "personal" to wear, and he bought you a Super-Pak of socks. Or perhaps he actually uttered a remark that should've stayed inside his head. Or it could be that the "electrifying surprise" he had hyped for three months prior to your birthday resembled one that the woman in this funny video received.

Thanks to Kathy for posting. I'm putting the video here for my BFF BL in KS and anyone else who might miss it on KW's.

Cletus, Take the Reel

Music parodies are the best. This Christian comedian, Tim Hawkins, rivals Mark Lowery (sp?) and Weird Al for side-splitting, knee-slapping spoofs.

See "Cletus, Take the Reel " at http://www.timhawkins.net/ but make sure you've gone potty first.
Everything on the site is hilarious.
